S.T.A.G. members hosted "The Grinch Strikes Back" Big Game at Skyline Paintball. It was a hard fought battle with both sides pushing back and forth all day but in the end, the Grinch accomplished most of what he sought out to do and was awarded the victor at the end of the day. The awesome twist to this game was the third element. When the local pub announced "Last Call", it sent its last four remaining customers staggering to the streets (played by some of Skyline's finest Rogue'rs... Chris, Sammy, John-Boy and Karl).  These guys shot whatever moved, including themselves. Thanks once again to Skyline for allowing STAG to host this event. We all had a blast. And thanks for those RK's that helped out reffing, we appreciated your help.

S.T.A.G. hosts 2nd Scenario/Woodsball Tournament (Challenge) at Skyline Paintball. Two teams battled hard all day playing hour long games on the newly modified field. Teams Tipped-Out and Toy Soldiers traded the lead multiple times throughout the day with Toy Soldiers holding a 12 point lead going into the final game. Tipped-Out was determined to regain control in the final game.  By controlling most of the field between the two main bases, other members of Tipped-out focused their efforts on finding the capture objectives, which they did... all 3. Toy Soldiers suffered a costly error in the early minutes of the final game by hanging the wrong flag at the swing base in the final game which was never corrected. In the end, Tipped-Out were the victors but Toy Soldiers definitely showed they are a team to be recond with. Both teams showed true sportsmanship and knowing both teams, I wouldnt have expected anything less.  Congratualtions to both teams on a well played match. Cant wait for the next one. - Bring your chigger spray!!!

S.T.A.G. members hosted the Whiskey Militia Big Game at Skyline Paintball. It turned out to be a very hot day but despite the temps, over 140 hardcore woodsballers showed up for this event. Special thanks to Skyline Paintball for allowing us to host this awesome event. And thanks to all the refs that helped us out.

S.T.A.G. held the "Young Guns Woodsball Day" on March 17 on what turned out to be a cold blustery day. A week before this event it appeared that the temps and weather conditions were going to be good for this event. However, the day before the event we received 4 to 5 inches of snow.  Ahhh, weather in the mountains... gotta love it.   Despite the cold and snowy conditions, approx. 15 kids showed up to play and learn. For most of these kids it was their first time trying the sport.

After our safety briefing and lessons on tactics, which included snap shooting, cover and concealment, moving as a group and individually and communications, the kids hit the field eager to sling some paint. The first two games started out with each kid against the other, last kid standing wins. Each member of S.T.A.G. took one player and coached them while they played, giving tips on shooting, awareness and movement throughout the game. We believe this method helped the kids understand the things they should be thinking about during an actual game.

Next the kids were split into teams and away they went.  S.T.A.G. members continued to give tips and pointers as needed but it was easy to see as the day progressed, these kids were getting it. We were amazed to see them talking to each other during play, making decisions and strategizing on their own.

In the end, we believe they walked away appreciating and enjoying the sport instead of fearing it and feeling intimidated.

Thanks to Skyline for allowing us to host this event and to the parents for giving your kids the opportunity to try this great sport. We hope to hold more of these events throughout the year.

2.23.07

On Saturday March 17, 2007 the great people at Skyline Paintball are once again allowing S.T.A.G. to host a day of play, this time for the younger players. This will be an awesome opportunity for those young kids just getting started in paintball to come out and play against kids their own age and at the same skill level. This will be a regular walk-on day but S.T.A.G. will take the younger players (14 and under with less than one year of paintball experience) and help them with the basics of woodsball.

Our number one priority is safety. We will cover all aspects of safety and fair play before the kids ever hit the field. This will be run like any other walk-on day with one difference.  During play, members of S.T.A.G. will actually coach and help the kids understand positions and tactics. So come on out and enjoy a day of paintball, you'll love it.

The annual Mardi Gras game turned out to be one of the most difficult games ever played. With 4 inches of semi solid ice covering the entire park, movement was limited to slow shimmying and body sliding to get around.  Maybe a better name for this big game would've been "Battle at Antarctica". Despite the icy conditions, a large number of die hard paintballers showed for this event and it tuned out to be a great day of paintball.  There will no doubt be alot of sore and aching muscles days after this event.

The NOPD had their hands full trying to stop the party goers from ravaging the city. It seemed as though the NOPD had a handle on things until the party goers plotted to assassinate the Chief of Police (CNTRMASS) and disrupt control over the entire city. The party goers managed to clear enough of the city and penetrate the headquarters. With nobody left in the city to protect the Chief except his bodyguard (BAKRAUF) and 6 minutes away from receiving reinforcements, one drunken party goer was able to stumble up the stairs of the hearquarters to fulfill his obligation... the assassination was complete.

Capping off a great and successful year, S.T.A.G. was given permission by Skyline Paintball to host its first Scenario Tournament. Even though we reffed this event and didn't get to play we still had a blast. We met some great teams (Blackwatch, Toy Soldiers and Gladiators) and great people at this tournament. Team Gladiators was a young and new team just starting out in paintball but that didn't keep them from jumping in and kicking some tail.  Thanks to Skyline for allowing us to host this tourney.

Participated in our first SPPL Based scenario tournament in Gerrardstown, WV taking first place. This was a great tournament with great teams participating.

4.22.06

S.T.A.G. members attended the 24 hour scenario game "GI Joe Silent Threat" held at Skyline Paintball, hosted by Blackcat Productions. The weekend was great but the weather was typical for this time of year... rain.  S.T.A.G. supported the Joe troops as Brian "Bakrauf" took up position of second in command under Joe CO "Havoc" from the Killer Beez. Realizing from the beginning with over 350 players attending and only around 150 making up the Joe side, we knew it would be a hard and tough battle. In the end, Team Joe ended up winning the story line but the Cobra forces grabbed the points. It was an awesome weekend with teams traveling from all over to attend.
